The venue

An upcoming luxury boutique hotel and restaurant in the charming village of Durgerdam. Located just a stone’s throw away from the city center of Amsterdam (15 min), our unique lakeside hotel will have a restaurant in cooperation with a renowned Dutch chef, 14 beautifully designed rooms and various special features. We know that this isn’t a lot of information…but trust us…you want to be part of our opening team.

We are an independent hotel with restaurant, and proud to be part of Aedes, an Amsterdam based property investor and hospitality company. How do we relate? A day in the life of Restaurant (Hotel) Manager

Rise and shine! Yet another day you get to work in one of the most beautiful spots known to the Netherlands at one of the best hospitality experiences around. You look forward to your rewarding (electric) bike ride to work (15 minutes) and once you arrive in Durgerdam, you take in the scenery just before you park your bike. You head inside and enjoy a nice cup of tea or coffee (freshly ground, the good stuff) while you prepare for the day by going through all the activities of the day (and the days to come) for the restaurant, events, and hotel. To ensure a smooth operation, you touch base with the Head chef and Team Leader to see if everyone is up to speed and if you can support in any way to perfect the art of hospitality. In Dutch you would be called ‘a flying goalie’, as your role is one that oversees the entire restaurant and hotel operation. And, the wellbeing and development of your team. That comes with the territory of being end responsible. Meanwhile service has started, and guests are arriving. You leave the Team Leader in charge of the restaurant and head over to the reception to prepare arrivals and solve possible challenges, The vibe is ‘gezellig’ and people (both employees and guests) are having a good time. It looks like you are doing your job well. Before you know it, it’s time to enjoy that bike ride home. But not before you check-in with the Head of Hospitality to let him know how the day went. You look forward to tomorrow. 

You in a nutshell

  • You are up-to-date with industry trends and industry legislation
  • You have knowledge about wine (perhaps even a wine certificate)

Main duties

  • Work closely with the Head Chef to position the venue
  • Build a diverse and inclusive team together with the Head Chef
  • Manage team and all operational service processes in both hotel and restaurant
  • Empower, train and guide employees
  • Recruitment of new employees
  • Prepare the schedule
  • Book and accounting of funds during shift
  • Forecasting and control of budget
  • Compliance with hygiene regulations according to HACCP
  • Work closely with the Head of Hospitality


  • Ambition to grow into the role of a General Manager / Hotel Manager
  • Minimum 3-5 years working experience in a similar role
  • Passion for food, drinks and guest satisfaction.
  • Have the ability to lead and develop a team in a busy operation.
  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills in English and Dutch
  • Good IT-knowledge (Microsoft Office, MEWS, Lightspeed, Annoncer)
